One day, a man killed a big cow and prepared to grill the meat.
He said to his daughter, “My dear, go and call our relatives, friends, and neighbors to come and celebrate!”
The daughter went out to the street and shouted, “Help! My father’s house is on fire!”
A few people came quickly to help, but many others ignored her and walked away.
The ones who came stayed, helped, and later ate and drank together until night.
The father looked around and said, “I don’t know these people. Where are our friends, relatives, and neighbors?”
The daughter smiled and replied, “Those who came today didn’t come for the party. They came because they thought we were in trouble. These are the people who truly care about us. They are the ones who deserve to celebrate with us.”
