วันหนึ่งในคืนเดือนเพ็ญ พระจันทร์ส่องแสงสว่างสุกใสอยู่บนท้องฟ้า ซึ่งสว่างเจิดจ้าราวกับแสงของพระอาทิตย์ในยามรุ่งอรุณ

นักเดินทางคนหนึ่งกำลังเดินอยู่ภายใต้แสงจันทร์ แล้วเขาก็ได้กล่าวสรรเสริญพระจันทร์ว่า ❝แสงสว่างไสวของเจ้าในคืนนี้ ช่างดูอบอุ่นและสวยงาม ยิ่งกว่าประกายแสงของพระอาทิตย์ในยามเช้าเสียอีก❞

One night during the full moon, the moon shone brightly in the sky, as radiant as the sun at dawn.

A traveler was walking under the moonlight and praised the moon, saying, ❝Your bright light tonight looks so warm and beautiful, even more than the sun’s rays in the morning.❞

At the same time, a thief who was planning to steal from the villagers cursed the moon, saying, ❝You evil spirit! Get out of the sky! Your light is obstructing my work!❞

After the moon heard the words of both men, it said, ❝I am not as important as the sun, because in truth my bright light comes from the sun’s light. And I am not an evil thing, because my light never obstructs the actions of good people. I am myself. I am the moon.❞
