ชายคนหนึ่งพบรังไหมของผีเสื้อ

เขาเฝ้ามองรังไหมนั้นทุกวัน จนกระทั่งวันหนึ่งรังนั้นก็เผยรอยแตกให้เห็น เขานั่งดูผีเสื้อเป็นเวลาหลายชั่วโมง ขณะที่ตัวผีเสื้อพยายามฝืนพาร่างกายตัวเองให้ลอดผ่านรูเล็กๆ ออกมา

อยู่ๆ ทุกอย่างกลับหยุดชะงัก ดูเหมือนว่าผีเสื้อนั้นจะติดคาอยู่ที่รูนั้น

ดังนั้นเขาจึงตัดสินใจที่จะช่วยผีเสื้อ เขาหยิบกรรไกรและตัดไหมบางส่วนออก จากนั้นผีเสื้อก็หลุดออกมาได้อย่างง่ายดาย ถึงแม้ว่าร่างกายบางส่วนจะดูเหมือนมีอาการบวมอักเสบและมีปีกที่ลีบเล็ก

ชายคนนั้นไม่ได้คิดอะไรมากและเฝ้ารอปีกผีเสื้อขยายออก แต่มันกลับไม่เป็นอย่างนั้น กลายเป็นว่าผีเสื้อตัวนั้นต้องใช้เวลาที่เหลือทั้งชีวิตในการที่คลานไปมาต่อหน้าเขา

ถึงแม้ว่ามนุษย์จะมีจิตใจที่โอบอ้อมอารีย์ แต่เขาก็ยังไม่เข้าใจกฏธรรมชาติของการลอกเยื่อของตัวดักแด้ในผีเสื้อ ที่การบีบตัวผ่านรูเล็กๆ คือการรีดให้เมือกออกจากร่างของผีเสื้อและทำให้ปีกขยายออกเพื่อบินออกไปได้

A man found a butterfly cocoon.

He watched the cocoon every day until one day it showed a crack. He sat watching the butterfly for several hours as the butterfly struggled to force its body through the small hole.

Suddenly, everything stopped. It seemed as though the butterfly was stuck in that hole.

So he decided to help the butterfly. He took scissors and cut away some of the silk. Then the butterfly emerged easily. Although parts of its body appeared swollen and its wings were small and shriveled.

The man didn’t think much of it and waited for the butterfly’s wings to expand. But that didn’t happen. The butterfly spent the rest of its life crawling around in front of him.

Although the man had kind intentions, he didn’t understand nature’s way of forcing the fluid from the butterfly’s body through the struggle of emerging from the cocoon. Squeezing through the tiny hole forces the fluid out of the butterfly’s body and causes the wings to expand for flight.
