The Misdelivered Letter

“ที่อยู่แค่นี้ ไม่น่าพลาดนะ…”

ผมถือจดหมาย
ซองสีขาว ไม่มีชื่อผู้ส่ง

มีแค่ “ห้อง 407”

ผมสอดมันเข้าใต้ประตู

“เรียบร้อย”

“Such a simple address… shouldn’t miss it.”

I held a plain white envelope.
No sender’s name.

Only: “Room 407”

I slid it under the door.

“Done.”

“มีคนตาย!!”

หน้าห้อง 407 คนมุงเต็ม

ศพนอนอยู่บนพื้น
ตาเบิก ปากอ้า

มือกำ “จดหมาย”

“Someone’s dead!!”

Crowd gathered at Room 407.

A body lay on the floor.
Eyes wide. Mouth frozen.

In his hand: the letter.

ผมดูที่อยู่ซ้ำอีกครั้ง

“ห้อง 417”

ไม่ใช่ 407

ผมส่งผิด

I checked the address again.

“Room 417”

Not 407.

I delivered it wrong.

ผมเดินไปหน้าห้อง 417
ตั้งใจจะขอโทษ

ประตู เปิดเอง

“…เข้ามาสิ”

ผมลังเล แต่ก้าวเข้าไป

“ผมส่งจดหมายผิด…”

เสียงในห้องเบาลง

“…ไม่ผิดหรอก”

I walked to Room 417
intending to apologize.

The door opened by itself.

“…Come in.”

I hesitated. Then stepped inside.

“I delivered your letter to the wrong room…”

The voice in the room went quiet.

“…No, you didn’t.”

“จดหมายนั้น… เขียนว่าอะไร”

เงียบ

แล้วเสียงก็ตอบ

ผมรู้สึกเย็นวาบไปทั้งตัว

“…ชื่อใคร”

เสียงกระซิบเบา ๆ

“That letter… what did it say?”

Silence.

Then the voice answered.

A cold chill ran through my entire body.

“…Whose name?”

A faint whisper.

ผมวิ่งออกจากห้อง

แต่บันไดทุกชั้น วนกลับมาชั้น 4

ลิฟต์เปิดออกมาที่ หน้าห้อง 407 เสมอ

ผมล้มหมอบอยู่กับพื้น

แล้วก็ได้ยินเสียงคุ้นเคย

มาจาก ใต้ประตูห้อง 407

มีซองจดหมายสีขาวถูกสอดออกมา

ข้างบนเขียนว่า

I ran out of the room.

But every staircase looped back to floor 4.

The elevator always opened at Room 407.

I collapsed on the floor.

Then I heard a familiar sound.

Coming from under the door of Room 407.

A white envelope was being slid out.

On it was written:

ผมหยิบซองขึ้นมาด้วยมือสั่น

เปิดออก

ข้างในมีกระดาษแผ่นเดียว

I picked up the envelope with trembling hands.

I opened it.

Inside was a single sheet of paper.

1. Why did the man in Room 407 die just from reading the letter?
2. Who wrote the letter in the first place?
3. Was the “wrong delivery” really a mistake — or was it planned?
4. Whose name will the new sender write on the next envelope?
